Press Release on The Signing Ceremony Of The “Memorandum of Understanding Between National Chung Shan Institute of Science and Technology (NCSIST) and Easat Radar Systems Limited (Easat)”

At 2:00 p.m. on 18th July 2018, National Chung Shan Institute of Science and Technology (NCSIST) and Easat Radar Systems Limited (Easat) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) at Farnborough International Exhibition & Conference Centre, Hampshire, United Kingdom, to expand the market and the development of civilian air traffic control radars. The parties jointly aim at promoting cooperation on exchanges of radar system technologies so as to create achievements of developing new-generation civilian air traffic control radar systems as well as dual-use technology for the military and civil sectors.

Over the years, NCSIST has been dedicated to the development of military radar technologies. Through 40 years of experience, NCSIST will apply military radar technologies into prospective civilian technologies in order to strengthen military-civil integration. The Easat company established in 1987 is a leading in design, manufacture, and integration of high quality civilian air traffic control radar antennas as well as coastal surveillance radar systems.

Dr. Chung-Hsing Gao, the President of NCSIST, participated in Farnborough International Airshow in person to have a business-to-business sales meeting with James Long, the managing director of Easat for further discussion in the direction of future cooperation. Additionally, to fully understand the technical capacities of Easat, Dr. Gao was also arranged to visit the headquarter in Manchester and NRPL radar manufacturing plants in Helsinki, Finland.

The civilian air traffic control radars market in Taiwan is mostly monopolized by overseas industries. Nevertheless, NCSIST has long history of developing military radars with deep knowledge and experience in this related area. By the opportunity of mutual cooperation, it’s anticipated that NCSIST is able to become involved in industrial chains and engage in both domestic and global markets of civilian air traffic control radars to create successes and achievements together with Easat.
